Have you ever seen Pushing Daisies? Its great.
Also, internet memes are funny.
Why do I only feel like writing when something happens to me? Oh yea, because life is only interesting when you do shit.

What are you doing NOT listening to the Shins?
What's that you say Danny? You're a hipster wannabe doucher?
Call me what you want, but all I know is that from the moment I heard the last 10 seconds of Phantom Limb on the radio last night I had to go home, turn my speakers up to...half volume, and shuffle my way through their whole collection. Come on, nobody blasts The Shins.
STILL, The Shins are one of those bands that truly take me back to a time long forgotten. Granted that time was like four years ago, but for a twenty year old, four years is a long time. I can barely remember what my life was like when I was sixteen. I'm pretty sure it was a lot like now come to think of it, but significantly more juvenile and naive. Sixteen was a time when alcohol was poison and my biggest concern was whether or not that hall pass I had forged 5 minutes prior to its examination by Carl would work. Listening my way through Chutes Too Narrow was like taking trip to the past, back to a time where my only responsibility between the end of school and the arrival home of my working parents was, in fact, listening my way trough Chutes Too Narrow. Their wide array of instrumentation combined with James Mercer's artsy-as-fuck yet soul-permeating lyrics is nothing short of a delight to bring back to your eardrums, if only just for a moment. A moment was all it took for me.
Admit it, they're not that bad.

So far I've been awake for 4 1/2 hours...and I kind of like it
I haven't voluntarily woken up at 8am since...well since Friday when I had to. But this morning I woke up 2 hours before my first class in order to essentially make copies of a project for school. Here is my schedule thus far:
730: Wake up
800: Get out of bed
801: Get into shower
815: Get back into bed
820: Debate getting out of bed, but decide to stay in bed and go back to sleep
825: Get out of bed remembering thats not actually an option
845: Get copies made
900: Arrive back home
905: Preheat oven for croissants I really want to eat
906: Get back into bed while croissants bake
920: Get out of bed and remove almost burnt croissants
921: Eat 1st croissant
925: Finish 8th croissant
930: Drive to class
945: Find parking spot after circling same one block radius for 15 min
950: Attend previously mentioned class
And there you have it. It seems I can be really productive if I want to be. Imagine how many croissants i'll have time for tomorrow.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I found myself sitting down to this film yesterday afternoon and not quite getting up until it was over. I dont necessarily want to review the film, but its hard to critique something...without critiquing it. Its not the way the characters interact, or even the storyline that really kept me firmly planted. It was the concept behind it all that moved me, and probably everyone else who thought this film was a godsend. Michel Gondry was the visionary behind this project, and there's one thing that he does with this film that truly immortalizes it for me.
Its the way he portrays memories, not as flowing events the way they actually happened but as parts of a whole. Memories are rarely true to fact, often melding together almost seamlessly. We dont hold memories in real-time either. Nobody remembers a day at the park over a 3 hour timespan to make sure they get everything. Memories are no more than snippets. No more than a collage of instants in time that last no longer than the blink of an eye. Its takes 10 seconds to relive a love found and a love lost. That is the ever-fleeting nature of memories that Gondry truly captures.
Using Jim Carrey and Kate Winslett to express that through probably helped.
A foray into blogging
Hi anyone. My name is Danny and I've decided to write a blog. In order for this to really work I'm going to have to outline a few things first.
I am exceptionally lazy, so an effort this strong means that something major is going on thats pulling me to write this.
Now that we've established the origins, lets get back to the main show. Its going to be a bumpy ride. My sentence structures are often funky, I frequently use non sequitur incorrectly (possibly there as well?), and to be honest a lot of the things I say don't make very much sense; however, throughout this little experiment I hope to find at least a gem or two of knowledge that I can look back on and be proud of. Will I keep up with this? Am I going to be able to maintain witty, yet insightful posting for a good amount of time? Are you sure this is happening?

- It could be the fact that I leave for Rome in January and wanted a place to share my experiences.
- It could also be that I have so much work to do these next two weeks for finals that I'm creating a blog to procrastinate, further promoting the aforementioned exceptional laziness.
- Personally, I think that its because Facebook status updates and Tweets aren't long enough. Trying to compress the major events of one's life into 140 characters is not only impossible, but I start to hyperventilate when I think about how little I can truly say.

Me nether, but lets find out.
